Programs
Preparing our workshops, materials and other projects, we focus on active learning methods. It is much easier to make students learn through discussions, various activities, case studies, and simulations. These methods involve application of their knowledge and help develop their independence and critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, and other skills. 
 
We seek to provide the teachers not only with the basic economic knowledge but also with the teaching methods. In our workshops and materials, one can find the following teaching techniques: direct instructions, simulations, group learning, and experiment.
 
Workshops for elementary school teachers
 
  • Five-day workshop “Economics for Elementary school”. The aim of this workshop is to prepare elementary school teachers to teach economics as an optional course and/or integrate it into other subjects based on the Teaching Standards in Economics.
  • One-day workshop “Financial Fitness”. In this workshop, teachers will be trained on how to introduce students into financial literacy.



Workshops for middle and high school teachers

 

  • Five-day workshop “Economics for Middle and High School”. The aim of this workshop is to prepare middle and high school teachers to teach economics and/or integrate it into other subjects, based on the Teaching Standards in Economics.
  • One-day workshop “Financial Fitness”. In this workshop, teachers will be trained on how to introduce students into financial literacy.
  • One-day workshop “Economics and Geography”. The aim of this workshop is to train geography teachers to integrate economics into their subject or train economics teachers who want to integrate geography into their subject.
  • One-day qualification development workshops. The aim of these workshops is to treat various topics in economics in more detail and to present teaching methodology for these topics. The workshops for the following topics in economics have been prepared: Student Enterprises at Middle School; Student Enterprises at High School (Simulith Programme); Supply, Demand, and Elasticity; Problem Solving in Economics (Microeconomics I and II); Money and Banking; Introduction to Macroeconomics; Economic Growth; Lithuania and International Trade; Economic Integration and Globalisation.

 
Workshops for school managers
 
  • Since school managers have been given more freedom and independence in decision-making related to their establishments’ economic and financial activities, they need economic thinking skills. In the workshop, school managers are introduced to economic environment, decision-making, fund-rising, and several other topics that would help them in their daily work.
 

 
Other training activities
 
  • In June 2006, the EEDC organised the first Summer Academy for teachers in economics.
